Storm Preparedness for Tempe?

SERVPRO® of North Tempe and Mesa East wants everyone to be prepared to weather the storm and offers this helpful information from the American Red Cross for building a survival kit:
- Water: one gallon per person, per day (3-day supply for evacuation, 2-week supply for home)
- Food: non-perishable, easy-to-prepare items (3-day supply for evacuation, 2-week supply for home)
- Flashlight
- Battery-powered or hand-crank radio (NOAA Weather Radio, if possible)
- Extra batteries
- Deluxe family first aid kit
- Medications (7-day supply) and medical items
- Multi-purpose tool
- Sanitation and personal hygiene items
- Copies of personal documents (medication list and pertinent medical information, proof of address, deed/lease to home, passports, birth certificates, insurance policies)
- Cell phone with chargers (Similar item available in the Red Cross Store)
- Family and emergency contact information
- Extra cash
The City of Tempe offers this information on other things you can do to prepare for flash flooding:
- Trim trees, so they are away from windows and roofs
- Inspect and clear your roof drainage system and flat roofs
- Clear debris from street gutters near your property to help prevent street flooding
- Unplug expensive electronics, install power protection devices
- Don’t apply fertilizers or other outdoor chemicals before a storm
- Secure loose outdoor furniture
- Use sandbags to prevent flooding; info on free sandbags at tempe.gov/monsoons
- Have an evacuation plan
